মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় বাংলার মানুষের জন্য একের পর এক প্রকল্প চালু করা হয়েছে। সেই তালিকায় 2015 সালে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশ অনুযায়ী আরেকটি প্রকল্প যোগ করা হয়, যার নাম সবুজ সাথী প্রকল্প(Sabuj Sathi Prakalpa)। এই প্রকল্পের হাত ধরে বাংলার ছাত্র- ছাত্রীদের সাইকেল দেওয়া হছে। ভবিষ্যতে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা যাতে নিজেদের পায়ে দাঁড়ানোর ক্ষমতা অর্জন করে সেই উদ্দেশ্যেই চালু করা হয়েছিল সবুজ সাথী প্রকল্প।

• The state government has already announced that under the scheme it shall be covering all students including girls and boys from various schools in the state.
• Bicycle specifications include Standard accessories – Front Basket, Carrier, Stand, Full-half chain cover, bell. Overall IS specification – IS 10613-2004.
• Bi-cycles procured in phase-II and phase-III will bear 10 special reflectors in accordance with the advisory issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for rider’s safety.
• The state government has also created a logo as the symbol of identification of the scheme with the mark of a running boy with spinning wheels.
