Railway Jobs Eligibility Criteria
Before filling in the online application form, the applicant must ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility criteria with respect to age, educational qualifications, work experience, etc. in respect of the post for which he/she is making the application. Candidates who fulfill the requisite criteria are only eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: Minimum 15 years of age and maximum 24 years.
- Education Qualification:
1. Candidates must have passed Class 12 for undergraduate posts.
2. Graduate level posts, candidates must have passed graduation.
3. Assistant Loco Pilot, candidates must have passed Class 10/ SSLC Plus ITI / Course Completed Act Apprentices or Diploma / Degree in Engineering. - Medical Standards: Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway posts.
Railway Employees – Groups / Class
Group A/Class I:- The highest grade you can be recruited into is Group A (Gazetted Officers). Group `A’ posts carry higher administrative and executive responsibilities and include senior management positions in the ministries/departments and field organizations. One can apply for group A posts if one has a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master of Science), medical (MBBS), or any other relevant stream.
- Group A Railway Job Average Salary: Rs. 80,000 to 90,000, plus perks such as HRA, medical, transport, etc.
Group B/Class II:- Vacancies in Group ‘B’ are filled by promotion on the basis of selection of eligible Group C employees by General Manager by conducting a Selection test and interview.
- Group B Railway Job Average Salary: Rs. 50,000 plus perks.
Group C/Class III:- Primary School Teacher/Trained Graduate Teacher / Post Graduate Teacher and equivalent (Basic / Senior / Selection Grade) carrying Grade Pay Rs. 4800/5400/6600 in Pay Band PB-2/PB-3 (Rs. 9300-34800/15600-39100) will continue to be classified as Group ‘C’.
- Group C Railway Job Average Salary: Rs. 5200-20,200 + Grade Pay Rs. 1900
Group D/Class IV:- Group D consists of posts like Trackman, Gateman, Helpers, Porter, etc. They are required to be between the ages 18 to 31/33 years (with age relaxation for OBC/SC/ST) and have Indian citizenship. Education qualifications require a minimum of passing the 10th standard or an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate from either the National Council for Vocational Training or the State Council for Vocational Training.
- Group D Railway Job Average Salary: Rs. 18,000/month
