Eligibility Criteria
For Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications
Educational Qualification: Degree in Law from a recognized university.
Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in handling court cases or legal matters related to Trade Marks and Geographical Indications.
Desirable Qualification: Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property from a recognized university.
Note: Qualifications and experience may be relaxed at the discretion of UPSC, especially for candidates from reserved communities or candidates with exceptional qualifications.
For Deputy Director (Examination Reforms)
Educational Qualification: Ph.D. in any discipline related to Humanities, Science, Commerce, Engineering/Technology, Law, Management, Finance, or Accounts from a recognized university or institute.

Selection Process
Selection will be done either through:
- Recruitment Test, followed by
- Interview
The UPSC reserves the right to adopt shortlisting criteria based on educational qualifications, experience, or higher qualifications to limit the number of candidates appearing for interviews.
Minimum qualifying marks:
- UR candidates: 50 out of 100
- OBC candidates: 45 out of 100
- SC/ST/PH candidates: 40 out of 100

General Instructions & Guidelines
- This is a permanent government job under the Central Government, classified as Group-B Gazetted (Examiner) and Group-A Gazetted (Deputy Director).
- Amentary probation period is two years for the Examiner post and one year for Deputy Director.
