Tripura Public Service Commission JE Educational Qualification

Junior Engineer, Grade-V(A) Degree: To apply for Group-B Gazetted posts, candidates must have a Degree in an appropriate branch of engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent academic qualification. TPSC considers candidates with degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering as equivalent to Electrical Engineering, Civil and Transportation Engineering as equivalent to Civil Engineering, and production Engineering as equivalent to Mechanical Engineering. This equivalence is applicable only for instant recruitment of graduate engineers. Additionally, candidates with a degree in Construction Technology and Management are considered equivalent to the Civil Engineering branch.

Junior Engineer, Grade-V(B), Diploma: For Group-C Non-Gazetted posts, candidates must possess a Diploma in an appropriate branch of engineering or its equivalent academic qualification from a recognized institution.

Age Criteria and Relaxation

Candidates aspiring to apply for the Junior Engineer posts must be at least 18 years old and not more than 40 years old as of 24-08-2023. There is a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to ST/SC/PH categories and Government Servants. However, the relaxation for Govt. Employees belonging to ST/SC/PH category is limited to the general relaxation of 5 (five) years available to them.

TPSC JE Recruitment 2023 Application Process

Candidates are required to apply through the Online Application Portal on the TPSC website. The portal will be available from 25-07-2023 to 24-08-2023 (5.30 PM). Applicants should avoid multiple applications. The application fee for Group-B Gazetted posts is Rs. 350 for General candidates and Rs. 250 for ST/SC/BPL card holders/Physically Handicapped Candidates. For Group-C Non-Gazetted posts, the fee is Rs. 200 for General candidates and Rs. 150 for ST/SC/BPL card holders/Physically Handicapped Candidates.

Selection Procedure

The selection process for Junior Engineers will be conducted in three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (MCQ Type) – The preliminary examination is a screening test with 100 multiple-choice questions. The marks obtained in this exam will not be considered for final selection. A limited number of candidates, maximum 5 (five) times the total posts (category wise), will be selected based on the result of the Preliminary Examination. Only those candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible for the Main Examination.
2. Main (Written) Examination – The Main Examination will carry 500 marks. Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% in aggregate for UR and 30% for Reserved Category Candidates to qualify for the Interview cum Personality Test.
3. Interview cum Personality Test – The Interview cum Personality Test will be conducted to assess the personal qualities of the candidates, such as intellectual ability, social traits, interest in current affairs, critical power of judgment, ability for leadership, moral integrity, and more.
