Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is a reputed government-owned enterprise involved in national infrastructure projects, primarily focusing on railway development and telecom network implementation. The Site Engineer (Telecom) position is a contractual engagement designed to support the BharatNet project in Uttar Pradesh, requiring candidates to operate primarily anywhere within the state.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of technical and managerial tasks related to OFC project execution and network management, including:

  • Planning and executing optical fiber cable installation projects in accordance with project standards.
  • Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance of fiber optic networks.
  • Utilizing OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) for fault diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Performing fusion splicing and cable management to ensure high-quality network performance.
  • Monitoring SLA (Service Level Agreements) and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) compliance.
  • Managing network performance, fault resolution, and system optimization.
  • Maintaining detailed records of network configurations, faults, and repairs using GIS, ABD, RFMS, and other NMS tools.
  • Coordinating with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Adhering to safety standards and environmental protocols during work operations.

Educational Qualifications

Qualification Details
B.E. / B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering OR Electrical Engineering

Minimum 50% marks from a recognized university or institute recognized by AICTE/UGC/Government of India. Only full-time, regular courses are considered valid qualifications.

Experience Requirements

Experience Type Details
Total Post-Qualification At least 07 years of relevant experience in OFC project execution and network management.
Hands-on Experience in O&M Minimum 04 years of direct experience in Operations & Maintenance of fiber optic networks.

Note: Experience acquired via internship, apprenticeship, training, teaching, academic projects, or freelancing shall not be considered valid.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Planning and executing OFC networks, fault diagnostics using OTDR.
  • Fibre optic transmission principles, signal propagation, and cable management best practices.
  • Fault resolution, SLA/KPI monitoring, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment, VFLs, power meters, and OTDR.
  • Competence in network management systems and mapping tools such as GIS, ABD, and RFMS.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic network monitoring/reporting tools.

Desirable Skills & Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Network Management Systems (NMS).
  • Knowledge of RFMS, GIS, ABD applications.
  • Familiarity with Power Meters, Fusion Splicers, Visual Fault Locators.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Age Limit & Relaxation

The maximum allowable age as of 19 December 2025 is 40 years. Age relaxation shall be granted following Government of India norms, applicable for categories such as SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen.

For applicants belonging to reserved categories, certification in the prescribed format must be presented during the walk-in interview.

Salary & Compensation

The monthly consolidated remuneration shall be negotiated based on the candidate’s experience, qualification, and prevailing market rates. Statutory deductions such as EPF, Income Tax, and Professional Tax will be applicable as per government rules. The employer’s contribution towards EPF shall be included in the overall cost-to-company (CTC).
