Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed Matriculation (10th class) under the 10+2 examination system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board. Additionally, candidates must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized Institute.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The minimum age requirement is 15 years and maximum is 24 years. Age relaxation is applicable as follows:

  • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
  • OBC Candidates: 3 years
  • PWD Candidates: 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Additional relaxation of 10 years plus duration of military service, with a minimum of 6 months in defence forces

Note: Ex-Servicemen selected under reservation will be categorized accordingly based on their original category (UR/SC/ST/OBC). Their children and dependents of armed forces members are also eligible under specific criteria.

Salary and Stipend

Selected apprentices will undergo a training period of one year, during which they will receive a monthly stipend. The stipend amount is as per the rules and directives issued by the Railway Board, which may be updated periodically. Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be purely merit-based, determined by an aggregate percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation and ITI examinations, with equal weightage to both. No written or oral examination is conducted. The merit list will be prepared based on the following criteria:

  • Average marks in Matriculation (50% minimum)
  • ITI examination marks

If candidates earn the same aggregate marks, the older candidate will be given preference. If there is still a tie, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier will be prioritized.
