Lakshmi Bhandar – Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Srimati Mamata Banerjee has recently rolled out a scheme for providing support to the women of the state, under which the State Government has promised to provide 1,000 rupees per month to women heads of households, and 500 rupees per month to women who belong to the general category. The government of West Bengal really doing very effective work for the growth of the state. There are many households that do not have basic income support so they are not being able to finance their day-to-day expenditures. For all those people the government of West Bengal has launched the West Bengal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme. The Lakshmi Bhandar Project ensures monthly Basic Income support to female heads of 1.6 crore households of West Bengal. The government of West Bengal has allocated a budget of Rs 12900 crores for the implementation of this Lakshmi Bhandar Project. The government promises Rs 1,000 to women heads of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families and Rs 500 to general categories women a month.

• This Lakshmi Bhandar Prakalpa (Laxmi’s Treasure) is a new scheme to ensure monthly Basic Income support to female heads of 1.6 crore households of West Bengal.
• Financial assistance will be credited by the direct bank transfer to an Aadhaar Card link bank account held solely by the eligible female members of the household.
• In this Lakshmi Bhandar Prakalpa, govt. will provide monthly Rs. 500 to families of general category (Yearly Rs. 6,000) and Rs. 1,000 to families of SC/ST (Yearly Rs. 12,000).
• With the help of this Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana, nearly 10% to 20% of the monthly expenditure of the beneficiary will be covered.
• The total budget for the Lakshmi Bhandar Prakalpa is 12900.

Current Progress

• Now Lakshmi Bhanda Scheme is also available for visually impaired citizens.
• Minister Shashi Panja said, “Specially capable people will be able to understand the various banners and posters of the government project at the door from now on.”
• Posters and banners will be displayed in Braille in various government & important offices of the district.
• The government of West Bengal has announced to submit the application form in the ”Duare Sarkar” camp. Duare Sarkar camp will be conducted in each panchayat and municipality area.
• The second phase of the Duare Sarkar Project Camp has been organized by the West Bengal government. These camps will be organized from 16 August 2021 to 15 September 2021. Through these camps, citizens can apply under various schemes offered by the state government. Over the first two days, 18,500 camps were organized in which 29,02,049 people participated.
• More than 60% of applications have been received under this Yojana through these camps.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a permanent citizen of West Bengal.
• They should be women households of a family.
• Their age should be between 25 to 60 years.
• They must have a bank account in her name.
• It has been mandatory to link Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts.
• A household that is enrolled under the Swasthya Sathi card is eligible for Lakshmi Bhander
• If the woman is getting any other financial support (scheme/salary/pension) from Government then, she cannot apply for this scheme.

To apply for and receive financial assistance for the Lakshmi Bhandar Prakalpa, applicants (women) must have the following documents. {Step by Step Guide} How to Apply for Laxmi Bhandar Yojana

The work to implement the Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme already started on the ground from 1 July 2021. The first thing West Bengal Govt has to do is to register the beneficiaries of the Lakshmi Bhandar Prakalpa. If you want to apply for the scheme, read the application process.

• You will get the form from the local office or Duare Sarkar Camp. You can also download the application form from the official website.
• Fill the form carefully (Mention all the details such as name, father/ husband name, date of birth, gender, caste, and other information).
