Eligibility Criteria for Principal Project Scientist

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Physics or an equivalent degree with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA during the Ph.D. (graduate) coursework
  • Above 6.5 CGPA during M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.E/M.Tech. coursework
  • Candidates who have submitted or defended their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting final degree are also eligible to apply

Age Limit

The candidate should not be more than 36 years old at the time of application. Age relaxation may be applicable as per government norms for reserved categories.

Experience and Research Background

Applicants must have demonstrated research experience in areas such as:

  • At least 2 years at RA II / RA III level, or
  • 2 years at RA I level and 1 year at RA II level, or
  • 3 years at RA I level

Furthermore, candidates should have:

  • Published at least two original research papers in SCI-indexed or peer-reviewed journals; preference will be given to those with additional publications
  • Hands-on experience in experimental optics, atomic and molecular physics
  • Knowledge of laser spectroscopy, laser cooling, ion/trap/atom trapping techniques
  • Supervision or mentoring experience with PhD or Masters students, as well as postdoctoral researchers
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, VHDL, Verilog, LabVIEW, or similar tools
  • Experience with simulation software like COMSOL, ANSYS, and fabrication tools such as ORCAD or EAGLE

Additional Considerations

Exceptional candidates with a theoretical background in light-matter interaction, quantum memories, and quantum repeaters will also be considered, even if their experience is primarily in theory rather than experiments.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations

Research and Development

The Principal Project Scientist will lead investigations into quantum repeater networks, focusing on entanglement distribution, quantum memories, and related quantum communication protocols.
