Eligibility Criteria for ICMR Specialist Grade III (Medicine)
Educational Qualifications
The candidate must possess a recognized Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree, included in the First Schedule, Second Schedule, or Part II of the Third Schedule (excluding licentiate qualifications) under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). Additionally, candidates holding educational qualifications in Part II of the Third Schedule must also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
Furthermore, candidates should have a postgraduate degree or diploma in the relevant specialty or super-specialty, specifically in Medicine (Doctor of Medicine in Medicine or General Medicine).
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in the concerned specialty or super-specialty after obtaining the first postgraduate degree.
- Alternatively, candidates with a postgraduate diploma must have at least five years of experience in the relevant field.
Age Limit
The maximum permissible age as of 28 February 2026 is 40 years. Age relaxation of up to five years is applicable for Government servants in accordance with existing orders or instructions issued by the Central Government.

The application fee is Rs.1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only). Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Women, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) are exempted from paying this fee.
