Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
The candidate must possess a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned subject as per the latest NMC notification dated 14.02.2022 & 30.06.2025. These qualifications are mandatory for all the positions.
Experience Requirements
- Professor: Minimum 3 years of experience as an Associate Professor.
- Associate Professor: Minimum 4 years of experience as an Assistant Professor.
- Assistant Professor: At least 1-year senior resident/tutor experience in the concerned subject in a recognized institution.
Additional Qualifications
- Completion (or undergoing) of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) and Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET) from designated NMC institutions.
- Research Publications:
- Professor: Minimum 4 research publications (2 while as Associate Professor)
- Associate Professor: Minimum 2 publications (preferably 2 while as Assistant Professor)
- Research publications must meet the minimum research marks criteria as per NMC.
- Registration with Maharashtra Medical Council and/or the Medical Council of India (now NMC) is mandatory.
Age Limit
- Professor & Associate Professor: Below 70 years as of the relevant cutoff date.

Selection Process
Steps Involved
- Application Screening: Initial screening of received applications based on eligibility criteria.
- Submission of Applicants: Eligible applications will be forwarded to the Commissioner, Medical Education & Research, Mumbai.
- Interview Process: Candidates applying for Assistant Professor positions will be called for interviews on 17 February 2026. For Professor and Associate Professor posts, further process and interviews will be conducted by the Commissioner.

- The appointments are purely contractual for a maximum period of 364 days or until their regular appointment, whichever is earlier.
- Contractual appointees do not have any right to claim regular appointment or benefits like pension, gratuity, etc.
- Private practice is allowed post-institutional duties, provided it does not interfere with work commitments.
- Resignation during the academic session is not permissible; candidates must submit an affidavit indicating their commitment.
