Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

The minimum educational qualification varies according to the post:

  • For Senior Ship Draftsman (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation): Three-year diploma in relevant engineering discipline with at least 60% marks. Candidate must have ≥2 years post-qualification experience as a Draftsman in relevant fields.
  • For Junior Technical Assistant posts: Three-year diploma in their respective engineering branch with ≥60% marks, plus ≥4 years of post-qualification experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • For Laboratory Assistants:
    • Mechanical: Three-year diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering with ≥60% marks; desirable NDT certifications.
    • Chemical: Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) in Chemistry, with ≥60% marks and experience in testing laboratories.
  • For Storekeeper: Graduate qualification with Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, with ≥4 years of experience in store management.
  • For Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, or Business Administration with ≥60% marks and at least four years of relevant experience in office management or ERP systems.

Selection Process

The recruitment process involves assessments designed to evaluate technical knowledge and reasoning abilities:

For Senior Ship Draftsman:

  • Phase I: Objective online test (75 minutes, 70 marks) covering general knowledge, English, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and discipline-specific questions.
  • Phase II: Practical CAD test (30 marks).

For Other Posts (Junior Technical Assistants, Laboratory Assistants, Storekeeper, Assistant):

  • Part 1: Objective online test (75 minutes, 70 marks).
  • Part 2: Descriptive online test (60 minutes, 30 marks), discipline-specific.

Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, and 40% for SC/PwBD candidates, per phase. There is no negative marking.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

  • General Knowledge, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General English, Discipline related questions.
  • Practical CAD test for Draftsmen and descriptive test for technical posts.
