Stipend, Duration, and Other Benefits

Stipend Details

Initially, selected candidates will be appointed as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) with a monthly stipend of ₹37,000 for the first two years. After satisfactory performance and review, their fellowship will be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) with a monthly stipend of ₹42,000 from the third year onward.

The total duration of the fellowship is five years, including the initial two-year JRF period and subsequent SRF period.

Contingency and Other Grants

Candidates will receive an annual contingency grant of ₹60,000, which includes expenses for books and research needs.

Additional financial assistance may be provided to attend an international conference abroad during the fellowship period, subject to HBNI guidelines.
