Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications

The candidates must possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the relevant discipline from an Indian university or an accredited foreign university. Relaxation of 5% marks is applicable for SC/ST candidates, reducing the qualifying marks to 50%. Candidates should have completed their master’s degree from a recognized institution.

Additional Essential Requirements

  • Qualified in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR.
  • Or cleared similar tests like SLET/SET as accredited by UGC.
  • OR have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC regulations (2009 or 2016 amendments).
  • Ph.D. from a top-ranked foreign university (top 500 in QS, THE, ARWU rankings).

Exemptions from NET/SLET/SET

  • Candidates registered for Ph.D. before July 11, 2009, (subject to specific conditions).
  • Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree as per UGC Regulations 2009.
  • Master’s degree disciplines where these eligibility tests are not conducted.

Desirable Qualifications

Candidates who have research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, teaching or post-doctoral experience, or awards from recognized international or governmental institutions are preferred.

Selection Process

Method of Selection

The selection of candidates will be conducted through a viva-voce or interview process only. The total marks assigned for the interview will be 100.

Shortlisting and Eligibility

A Screening Committee, constituted by APPSC, will shortlist candidates based on academic qualifications and eligibility as per the detailed criteria provided in Appendix-II (Table 3B). Only candidates scoring above the minimum threshold will be called for the interview in the ratio of 1:3.

Qualifying Marks

Candidates must score at least 50% of the total interview marks (i.e., 50 out of 100) to qualify for final selection. PwBD candidates will be given relaxations as per government notifications.

Final Selection

The final selection will be made as per the APPSC Manual for Conduct of Examination-2024, based on interview performance and academic merit.

Step 1: Register for One Time Registration (OTR)

Candidates must register on the official APPSC website to generate a unique User ID and Password. Existing registrants can login directly without re-registration.

Step 2: Fill Online Application Form
