Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the Senior Resident position must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualification
- Postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS) in the respective discipline from an NMC-recognized university or institute.
- For the Trauma & Emergency department, MD/MS/DNB in Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, or Orthopedics will be considered.
- Candidates must have declared successful in their qualifying degree exam and must complete their tenure before the interview date.
Registration
- Mandatory registration with NMC/MCI/State Medical Council before joining if selected.
Experience
- Candidates should not have completed more than 3 years of Senior Residency in any government medical institution, whether on regular, ad-hoc, or contract basis.

Selection Process
The selection will primarily be based on an interview conducted at AIIMS Gorakhpur. In case of a large number of applications, an initial written test may be conducted for shortlisting candidates. The final decision regarding selection and shortlisting rests with the CEO and Executive Director of AIIMS Gorakhpur and will be binding.
Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview based on their bio-data as evaluated by the Search cum Selection Committee.
General Instructions and Other Conditions
- The initial appointment is for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance and conduct.
- Vacancies are provisional and subject to variation as per government rules.
- Appointments are in accordance with the Government of India’s Residency Scheme and can be terminated with one month’s notice or payment of one month’s salary.
