Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The age should be within 18-45 years for male candidates and 18-50 years for female candidates as of the last date of submission (15-02-2026). Age relaxation is admissible for government servants, Scheduled Tribes candidates, and as per GOI orders, under Circular No. 45/1998-PW dated 19.11.2011.
Educational & Professional Qualifications (Varies by Discipline)
Candidate qualification requirements are specific to each coaching discipline. The following are the key criteria:
For Sports Coaches (Table Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, Football, Athletics, Swimming, Cycling, Volleyball, Badminton):
- 1st Preference (50 Marks): Diploma in Sports Coaching from SAI, NSNIS (Patiala), Duration 1 year.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): International/National Medal winners in respective discipline with Secondary School education.
- 3rd Preference (30 Marks): B.PED/M.PED with specialization in the respective discipline.
For Chess Coach/Instructor:
- 1st Preference (60 Marks): FIDE Instructor (FI) License.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): National Instructor (NI) License (active license, without ownership of chess academy/center).
For Gym Instructor:
- 1st Preference (50 Marks): Diploma in Gym Instruction / B.Sc in Exercise Science / Diploma in Fitness & Wellness.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): Certified Personal Trainer / Fitness/Wellness Trainer certification with Secondary School education.
- 3rd Preference (30 Marks): Level 3 certification or above, B.PED/M.PED, and experience as Gym Instructor.

Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted based on a merit list prepared from educational qualifications and physical/specialized tests. The details are as follows:

Physical Fitness Tests
All coaching candidates will undergo basic physical fitness assessments, including:

- Standing Broad Jump (5 marks)
- Overhead Back Throw with Medicine Ball (5 marks)
- 1000 meters Run (5 marks)
Trade / Practical Tests
- Sports Coaches: Conducting practical classes, demonstrating techniques, student engagement, and injury management (up to 30 marks).
- Gym Instructor: Knowledge assessment in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and first aid (up to 50 marks).
- Chess Coach/Instructor: Demo class (up to 40 marks).

Duties and Responsibilities
The selected coaches and instructors are expected to:
- Impart high-quality training to athletes and sports persons at various levels, adhering strictly to coaching schedules.
- Perform talent identification programs across different islands.
- Maintain detailed records of training, participants, and performances.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of sports infrastructure and facilities.
- Represent and support teams during tournaments at district, state, national, or international levels.
- Perform other duties assigned by senior officials of A&N SSC and the Department of Sports, Youth Affairs.
