Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria as of the last date of application submission (13th February 2026):

  • Educational Qualifications: For Dental Consultant Specialist: MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology OR Public Health Dentistry from a recognized Dental Institute registered with the Dental Council of India; For Psychiatry Consultant: MD in Psychiatry from an NMC-recognized institute.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years post-MDS experience for Dental Specialist; Minimum 2 years post-MD experience for Psychiatry Consultant; relevant experience in tobacco control or mental health counseling highly desirable.
  • Age Limit: Up to 62 years on the last date of application receipt. Special provisions for retired employees regarding salary calculation apply.
  • Other Criteria: Valid registration with respective professional councils (Dental Council of India for Dental Specialist; Medical Council or NMC for Psychiatry).

Job Responsibilities

Dental Consultant Specialist

  • Involve in diagnosis and treatment of tobacco-related oral diseases at the Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC).
  • Coordinate interdepartmental referrals and consultations for systemic conditions related to tobacco use.
  • Provide initial patient assessment, counselling, and pharmacotherapy prescriptions (e.g., Nicotine Replacement Therapy).
  • Plan and coordinate tobacco de-addiction and awareness programs in community settings, schools, and health centres.
  • Train staff for capacity building in tobacco cessation and treatment approaches.
  • Perform administrative duties under supervision and contribute to departmental functions.

Consultant (Psychiatry)

  • Conduct comprehensive initial evaluations and detailed medical histories of patients.
  • Diagnose psychiatric conditions based on clinical symptoms and treatment history.
  • Implement conservative treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Explain and prescribe tobacco de-addiction treatment plans to patients and family members.
  • Prescribe psychiatric medications judiciously for mental health conditions.
  • Coordinate mental health and tobacco de-addiction programs within community settings.
  • Assist with tasks assigned by the TCC in-charge to support tobacco harm reduction initiatives.
