Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

The candidate must hold a graduate degree in law (LLB) from a reputed recognized institution, either in India or abroad, with specialization in drafting legislation.

Essential Experience & Skills

Requirement Details
Nationality Must be an Indian citizen
Legal Practice Minimum of 7 years of practice at the High Court level
Drafting & Policy Experience At least 5 years of experience in drafting and amending legislative and policy matters
Expertise Sound knowledge of international law, diplomatic norms, and legal affairs; experience with Government agencies favored

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in Supreme Court proceedings
  • Diploma or additional qualification in Immigration Law or Constitutional Matters

Age Limit

The candidate must be within the age group of 30 to 45 years as on the application closing date (February 6, 2026). The candidate should be in good health and physically fit for the duration of the contract.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary package is fixed at Rs. 10 lakh per annum, subject to applicable taxes. The engagement is purely contractual; hence, no benefits such as Provident Fund, pension, gratuity, medical allowances, or HRA will be provided. The remuneration remains unchanged during the contractual period.

Terms of Engagement

Contract Duration

The initial engagement duration will be for a specified term, which may be extended based on performance, mutual agreement, and organizational needs.

Leave & Absence Policy

  • Paid leave: 1.5 days per month of service, with a maximum of 10 days at a time.
  • Unspent leave: Lapses upon commencement of the notice period.
  • Absence beyond entitled leave without prior approval will lead to deductions from the consolidated fee.

Additional Conditions

  • The consultant shall not accept any other professional appointment during the engagement period.
  • Travel for official duties will be supported by the Ministry, covering travel, accommodation, and per diem as per guidelines.
  • A signed contract will be required from the candidate on appointment, adhering to prescribed formats.
