The Research Associate will be responsible for multidisciplinary research activities related to neurobiology, molecular biology, pharmacology, and animal model studies aimed at bipolar disorder. Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the following disciplines:

  • Biotechnology
  • Biochemistry
  • Life Sciences
  • Medical Biotechnology

Specialization in Neurobiology is mandatory. All degrees must be obtained from a recognized university or institute, and candidates should meet all academic requirements at the time of the interview.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates experienced in the following areas:

  • Handling and culturing mammalian neuronal cell lines
  • Generation and culture of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
  • Differentiation of stem cells into neurons and neural lineages
  • Analyzing cell signaling and function in neuronal cells
  • Developing animal models for neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders
  • Molecular biology techniques: gene cloning, Western blotting, RT-PCR/qPCR, co-immunoprecipitation, and pathway analysis

Job Responsibilities

In Vitro Model Development

Design, develop, and optimize cell-based models using mammalian neuronal cells and iPSC-derived neurons to investigate bipolar disorder mechanisms.

Culture & Differentiation

Establish and maintain protocols for neuronal and stem cell culture, differentiation, and disease modeling experiments.

Drug Screening & Therapeutics Development

Perform chemical screening assays to identify potential therapeutic compounds for bipolar disorder. Contribute to development of nutraceutical and pharmaceutical interventions.

In Vivo Studies

Create and characterize rodent models of bipolar disorder, including behavioral testing and neurobiological assessments.

Functional & Molecular Analyses

Analyze gene expression, protein signaling pathways, and related molecular mechanisms in both cell and animal models to understand disease progression.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain meticulous records of experiments, prepare data analyses, and contribute to scientific publications and project reports.

Salary & Benefits

Component Details
Basic Salary Rs. 48,000/- per month
House Rent Allowance (HRA) As per IIT Roorkee norms
Total Monthly Emoluments Rs. 48,000/- plus admissible HRA

Positions and Duration

  • Initial appointment duration: 1 year from the date of joining
  • Extension: Possible for additional year based on project funding and performance
  • Project length: Approximately 5 years or until project completion
