  • Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Answer Keys, in due course after the Computer Based Examination, will be placed on the website of the Commission (https://ssc.nic.in). Any representation regarding answer keys received within the time limit fixed by the Commission at the time of uploading of the answer
    keys, will be scrutinized and the decision of the Commission in this regard will be final. No representation regarding Answer keys shall be entertained, afterwards.
  • Marks scored by candidates in Paper-I will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission through Notice No: 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019 and such
    normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
SSC MTS Paper-II (Descriptive) Pattern

  • Paper-II will be of descriptive type in which the candidate will be required to write a short essay or letter in English or any language included in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution.
  • Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of categorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.However, marks scored by the candidates in Paper-II will be used to decide merit in case more than one candidate score equal normalized marks in Paper-I.
  • Paper-II will be held only for those candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories.

SSC MTS Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) Syllabus 2022

Questions on ‘General Intelligence and Reasoning’ will be non-verbal considering the functions attached to the post. Questions on Numerical Aptitude and General English will
be simple, of a level that an average matriculate will be in a position to answer comfortably. Questions on General Awareness will be also of similar standard.

  • SSC MTS Syllabus English Language: Candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar,sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. and writing ability would be tested.
  • SSC MTS Syllabus General Intelligence and Reasoning: It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation,
    relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc.The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities
    to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
  • SSC MTS Syllabus Numerical Aptitude: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship
    between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations,Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs,Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
  • SSC MTS Syllabus General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially
    pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography,Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
  • For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability, there will be no component of Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/Statistical Data in the Paper.

SSC MTS Paper-II (Descriptive) Syllabus 2022

  • The Paper will be set in Hindi, English and in other languages mentioned in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution as given in Annexure-XIV, to test basic language skills commensurate
    with the educational qualification prescribed for the post.Candidates will be required to write one short essay/ letter.

SSC CHSL Tier III Examination Syllabus 2022

SSC CHSL Syllabus Tier-III (Skill Test/ Typing Test):

  • Skill Test/ Typing Test for the qualified candidates will be conducted on computers provided by the Commission or its authorized agency.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted in the cities where Regional Offices of the Commission are located or as decided by the Commission.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted as per the following scheme.

SSC Tier III Syllabus – Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:

  • Skill Test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators. No candidate is exempted from appearing in the Skill Test.
  • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The “Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer‟ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer.
  • For the post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): The ‘speed of 15000 key depressions per hour on Computer‟ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer.
  • Candidates eligible for scribe as per paras 8.1 and 8.2 will be given compensatory time of 5 minutes. Therefore duration of Skill Test for such candidates will be 20 minutes.

SSC Tier III Syllabus – Typing Test for LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant:

  • The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi and English. The candidates will have to opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e. either Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.
  • The choice of Typing Test given by the candidate in the online Application Form shall be treated as final and no change in the medium of Typing Test will be entertained later.
  • Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
  • The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
  • Candidates eligible for scribe as per paras 8.1 and 8.2 will be given compensatory time of 5 minutes. Therefore duration of Typing Test for such candidates will be 15 minutes.
  • Passage Dictators will be provided to those VH candidates for the Typing test who have opted for Scribe in the online Application Form. The Passage Dictator will read out the passage to VH candidate within the allotted time period.
  • Persons with Disabilities candidates who claim to be permanently unfit to take the Typing Test because of a physical disability may, with the prior approval of the Commission, be exempted from the requirement of appearing and qualifying at such test, provided such a candidate submits a Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-XIII) to the Commission from the competent Medical Authority, i.e., the Civil Surgeon of a Government Health Care Institution declaring him/ her to be permanently unfit for the Typing Test because of a physical disability. In addition, such candidates must substantiate their claim by furnishing the relevant Medical Certificate in the prescribed format as per Annexure-VIII to Annexure-X of the Notice of Examination, as applicable, at the time of Typing Test. Otherwise their claim for seeking exemption from Typing Test will not be entertained by the Commission.

SSC CGL Exam Tier-IV Syllabus 2022

Skill Test

  • Date Entry Skill Test (DEST):For the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax): Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) at 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depression
    per hour on Computer.
    The “Data Entry Speed Test” Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes. This test will be of qualifying nature.Computers for the test will be provided by the Commission at the Centre/ venue notified for the purpose. The Skill Test will be held at the Commission‟s Regional/ Sub-Regional Offices or at other Centres as may be decided by the commission. Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test will be sent by the Regional/ Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to eligible candidates declared qualified for appearing in Skill Test. Information about evaluation of Typing Test/ DEST are available on the website
    The Skill test will be conducted in the manner decided by the Commission for the purpose.
    OH candidates opting for the post of Tax Assistant in CBDT are exempted for appearing in Skill Test. OH candidates opting for post of Tax Assistant in CBEC are not exempted from Skill Test. HH and VH candidates are not eligible for exemption from the Skill Test.
    PwD candidates who are eligible for scribes as para-7.1 and 7.2 of the Notice of Examination will be allowed additional compensatory time of 5 (five) minutes in DEST. Only those VH candidates who opt for scribes in the written examination will be provided passage reader at the time of Skill Test.
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):The Commission will hold Computer Proficiency Test (CPT),comprising of three modules: (i) Word Processing, (ii) Spread Sheet and (iii) Generation of Slides, for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs,
    Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise),Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC. The CPT will be conducted in the manner decided by the Commission for the purpose. No exemption from CPT is allowed for any category of
    PwD candidates. CPT will be of qualifying nature.
    Detailed instructions regarding CPT will be provided by the Regional/ Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to eligible candidates declared qualified for appearing in the CPT.

SSC Junior Engineer Written Examination Syllabus 2022

Paper I

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: The Syllabus for General Intelligence would include
    questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test may include questions on analogies,
    similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision
    making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.
  • General Awareness: Questions will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

  •  The Commission shall have the discretion to fix different minimum qualifying standards in each part of Paper I taking into consideration among others,category-wise vacancies and category-wise number of candidates.
  • Only those candidates, who have scored above the cut off marks fixed by the Commission
    in Paper I would be required to appear in the Physical Endurance Test/Medical examination.

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non- verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and
    differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment,
    decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts,
    arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal
    series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics
    are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic
    Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series,
    Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding,
    Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space
    Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding, Figural Pattern- folding and completion, Indexing Address matching, Date & city
    matching Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers
    coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional
    Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Other sub-topics if any.
  • General Awareness : Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the
    candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to
    society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such
    matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be
    expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India
    and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography,
    Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude : The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate
    use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be
    computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers,
    Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss,
    Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time & work,
    Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear
    Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of
    triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common
    tangents to two or more circles, Triangle , Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right
    Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular
    Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric
    ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights
    and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.
  • English Comprehension: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic
    comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested

  • English Language & Comprehension :Questions in this components will be
    designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language
    and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition,
    articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms,
    Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, comprehension
    etc

  • The skill test will be of qualifying nature and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates.

Written Examination General Intelligence & Reasoning

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non- verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
  • General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general
    awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also
    be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation
    and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries especially
    pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including
    Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
    For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability /cerebral palsy affected candidates and
    opting for scribe there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the
    General Intelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper.
  • English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure,
    synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test Syllabus 2022

  • Skill test in Stenography: The candidates will have to appear for the stenography test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.
